Cape Legends Strong Presence at Nederburg Auction  Fifteen wines from eight of the top wineries represented by Cape Legends have been included in the line-up of wines for the 38th Nederburg Auction to be held in September. They are Allesverloren, Alto, Jacobsdal, Le Bonheur, Lomond, Neethlingshof, Plaisir de Merle and Stellenzicht. The 15 Cape Legends wines include 10 reds, three whites and two ports. The latter are of the 1999 and 2004 vintages and were in both instances produced by Allesverloren near Riebeek-Kasteel. All the wines selected regularly distinguish themselves on local and international wine competitions. The oldest wine among the 15 is a 1978 Pinotage from Jacobsdal which lies in the hills above Kuils River, followed by a 1982 Cabernet Sauvignon from Alto, the exclusively red-wine estate on the slopes of the Helderberg near Stellenbosch. Among the three white wines is a 2007 Gewürtztraminer from Neethlingshof. This niche wine, one of the few of the cultivar available locally, was made from the grapes of a dryland vineyard planted some 25 years ago by Günter Brözel. Read More ..........>>>
Bloudruppel-toekenning vir George  Die George-munisipaliteit is vanjaar wéér een van die top tien munisipaliteite in die gesogte nasionale Bloudruppel-toekennings. Die aankondiging is Maandagaand deur die Minister van Waterwese, Edna Molewa tydens 'n gala geleentheid in Kaapstad gemaak. Molewa het beklemtoon dat dit 'n buitengewone prestasie vereis om die Bloudruppel-standaard te behaal en dié munisipaliteite in haar toespraak geloof. Dit is die vierde agtereenvolgende jaar wat hierdie beoordeling gehou word en George het nog elke jaar onder die top tien geëindig. Alhoewel George van 'n sewende plek in 2011 na 'n tiende plek geskuif het, het sy watergehalte volgens die beoordelaars van 96,26% in 2011 na 97,41% verbeter.

A Credit to the Garden Route Mark Groenewald is the OwnerOperator of McDonalds restaurants on the Garden Route . These include McDonalds Courtenay street and McDonalds in the Garden Route Mall, George and the recently opened McDonalds in Langeberg Mall, Mossel Bay. Mark has been a franchisee for 12 years . He was previously the Owner Operator of McDonalds Richards Bay before relocating to the beautiful Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa. Marks wife Tarn is the Company administrator and is also responsible for the payroll of some 120 employees. There are about 35 000 McDonalds restaurants world wide in 121 countries. In South Africa we have a Developmental Licensee who is committed to building some 20 new restaurants a year over the next 5 years.  McDonalds operate on the pillars of Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Value. All products are of high nutritional standard and are regularly tested to ensure that they meet world wide standard. Their food is freshly made and the new "Made for you" process being rolled out to all restaurants ensures that whatever you order is hot and fresh. This also improves service times. Food safety procedures are strictly adhered to and records kept of for example internal temperatures of meat and chicken products which are measured at different times of the day. McDonalds restaurants are required to have high standards of cleanliness, and Mark having worked for 20 years as an Environmental Health Officer is very strict on this. McDonalds at the Garden Route Mall will soon undergo some changes: The 'Made for you ' kitchen equipment is soon to be installed and the kitchen size will be increased. Outside seating in front of the restaurant will be incorporated inside the restaurant thus increasing seating capacity. Service times will therefore greatly improve.
